Buttocks augmentation with prosthesis is not the most popular method these days, even if the techniques and implants have evolved, with a simpler surgery and easier recovery, and with a more pleasant and natural outcome.
This information sheet is issued by Dr Vincent Nguyen plastic surgeon in Paris, familiar with buttocks augmentation with prosthesis.
It provides all the information about the surgery, scars, recovery, before and after comparison photographs, Social Security coverage and the costs of the buttocks augmentation procedure.
Why augment buttocks size?
The projection, the curve and the size of buttocks are very important in the beauty of the butt. They depend on the size of the gluteus maximus muscle but also of the shape of the lower back. The female ideal of beauty is often associated with a slim waist and rounded and shaped buttocks. Round and firm buttocks accentuate a youthful feminine figure.
Flat and sagging buttocks may cause confidence issues and even psychological issues for some patients.
Sometimes in the case of sagging buttocks, a butt lift is required.
What is the indication of buttocks augmentation with prosthesis?
Buttock augmentation with prosthesis is required when the patient wants to enlarge her buttocks in a significant way and doesn’t have enough body fat to undergo an augmentation with fat transfer called Brazilian butt (buttock lifting without scars).
What’s the purpose of buttock augmentation with prosthesis?
The purpose of this procedure is to increase the volume of small or flat buttocks with prosthesis to shape, lift, and enhance the butt.
What implants or prosthesis are used in buttock augmentation surgery?
Buttock implants look like breast implants but there is a huge difference between them. The shape is different and buttock implants in France are made of semi solid (rubber like) silicone that has a consistency near to a real buttock.
Buttock implants have improved a lot over the years. They have been proven safe to use.
Buttock implants used in France have undergone several safety tests and are controlled by precise and strict standards: EC marking (European Community) ANSM authorization (National Health Agency in charge of Medication and Health product Security).
They are more reliable with a much more resistant shell and a cohesive gel that doesn’t spread in case of rupture.
There is also a wide variety of shapes that can adapt to different patients and morphologies. Due to these many choices in shapes and volumes the outcome may approach the patient’s wishes and morphology in the most effective way.
BEFORE BUTTOCK AUGMENTATION WITH PROSTHESIS:
BUTTOCK AUGMENTATION WITH PROSTHESIS PROCEDURE:
It takes 2 to 3 months for final results to appear and to see the full effects but the physical change is obvious from the first day after surgery. The augmentation enhances the shape and the size of the buttocks. The scars are undetectable as they are hidden. Enhancement of the buttocks resculpts the silhouette and creates a positive psychological effect.
AFTER BUTTOCK AUGMENTATION WITH PROSTHESIS
What scars does a buttock augmentation with prosthesis leave?
Depending on the technique used, one to two incisions are done in the gluteal fold between the two buttocks. The prosthesis are then put within the gluteus maximus muscle.
Can a buttock augmentation with prosthesis be combined with another surgery?
In case of excess fat (“saddle bags”, “love-handles”) it can be combined with liposuction.
Is there an alternative to buttock augmentation with prosthesis?
If the patient wishes to get rid of excess fat in other areas of her body (“saddle bags”, “love-handles”, stomach …), it may be suctioned and reinjected into the buttocks. The procedure is called Brazilian butt lift, buttocks lipofilling, buttocks lifting without scars or autologous fat transfer.
Will my buttocks be sensitive after surgery?
You may feel numbness in your buttocks 6 to 12 month after surgery but it will disappear progressively.
Can buttock implants move, shift around under the skin and deform the shape of the buttocks?
It may happen but this is very rare and less common than before. Since the implants are within the muscle (intramuscular), they are invisible. Moreover, with a biconvex prosthesis (convex on both sides) the shape of the buttock can’t be altered even if it turns over.
